Free, confidential drug and alcohol service for people up to 21 in Kirklees

The Base is a drug and alcohol service for people up to the age of 21 in Kirklees.

We provide friendly support around drugs, NPS (previously known as ‘legal highs’) and/or alcohol.
The service also offers a provision for parents, carers and professionals who support young people in Kirklees.

The service is flexible and accessible. We offer appointments across Kirklees to ensure that accessing any of our services is made as easy as possible.

One to one appointments for young people
Assessment and care planned interventions to meet individual needs.
Groupwork
Targeted and tailored to specific groups of young people.
Information, advice and guidance
We provide information, advice and guidance on drugs, legal highs and alcohol to young people, professionals, parents and local communities.
Specialist training for staff
The service also provides bespoke training packages to professionals working with young people. This is to ensure they feel as comfortable as possible in providing appropriate support around drugs and alcohol where needed.
Support for parents and families
The team offers support to parents and family members who may be concerned about a loved one’s substance use.
Community Outreach
You are likely to see The Base staff and volunteers throughout Kirklees. This is to ensure we are accessible as possible. We endeavour to offer services in locations/venues which are preferred by young people.
Drop In
Drop in to Huddersfield to receive support from a member of staff. There are often a host of positive activities to engage in also during drop in times. Contact the service for further details.
