Commissioning Lead

Kirklees Public Health leads the strategic commissioning of services across the local authority for; health, criminal justice and voluntary sector services that are charged with addressing substance misuse.
Drug and Alcohol misuse present a myriad of health and social issues. The consequences of their misuse can affect individuals, their family members and whole communities. Wider implications are linked to crime; domestic abuse; child abuse and neglect; family breakdown; physical and mental health problems and homelessness.

Public Health, Kirklees Council continues to commission the expansion and improvement of drug and alcohol services. Our integrated treatment system is now focusing on longer-term ‘recovery’, ensuring people have access to housing and work-related support and are fully re-integrated into the community. This will enable them to play a full part in community life without drug or alcohol dependence.
